Laundering

Professional laundering of shirts, jeans, khakis, lab coats, chef jackets, tablecloths and other washable items is another process we use to keep your clothes in tip-top shape. Special detergents, additives and finishes used with very specialized washing machines distinguish commercial laundry from home laundry.

After the clothes are washed, they stay moist and can then be ironed. This laundry and ironing process gives your clothes a very "fresh and sharp" look and feel that you just can't get at home. This is accomplished by drying your clothes on a 300+ degree laundry press at close to 100 psi.

Most shirts and shirts made from 100% cotton or cotton/polyester blends can be commercially laundered. However, some garments that are too small, too large, or have additional frills or embellishments are not suitable for commercial laundry equipment and must be finished by hand.

In addition, some clothes with care labels for washing in cold or warm water and ironing at low temperatures should be dry-cleaned or wet-cleaned to prevent damage such as melting or shining. Clothes made from rayon, spandex, nylon, Polynosic, linen, silk, wool, linen, acrylic, Tactel and acetate should not be commercially laundered as they may lose shape and may not withstand the high temperatures used in the finishing process.

NOTE: One of the main reasons dry-cleaned or wet-cleaned shirts or blouses cost more is because they take 5 to 7 times longer to be hand finished, depending on the style of the garment and any corresponding embellishments.
